Until now, black carbon measuring devices have been bulky and challenging to use. Sensor technology has required almost laboratory-like conditions. The price of the devices has also limited their use in many cases.

Maurus has developed a new optoacoustic sensor technology that shrinks the size of the appliances to a fraction of “traditional” measuring units and lowers their price to become accessible to everyone.

Measuring units the size of a refrigerator will soon be a hand-held flashlight-sized, easily portable scanner.
